BOXERS OR BOXER-BRIEFS—DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE?

Buying underwear was a simple task for any man, but nowadays, with so many styles to choose from, we find ourselves having to choose from a boxer, and a boxer-brief, aren’t they the same? This choice requires men to consider colors, types of fabrics, and designs too.  The answer seems to be more complicated it looks.

You may not even know that you have at least a pair of boxer-briefs camouflaged as a boxer in your wardrobe for one important reason: They have become a standard garment, which comes and goes in a variety of designs and colors.  Its comfort is given by covering the entire butt, part of the thigh, and the package.  But what about the well-known boxers?  Don’t break your head! Considering that both styles flood the drawers of many men, let’s break down the major differences between these two pieces of clothing.

BOXERS

Many confuse boxers with the boxer-briefs, either due to their environment or the new trends and styles imposed by the designers.  Although the term “boxer” is often used as a generic name for long-legged men’s underwear.  The major difference is that boxers are a shorts-type garment, generally loose fit and cotton made, which are commonly seen in stores in either solid colors or prints, usually in plaids or stripes.

Jacob Golomb, founder of Everlast (since 1925), designed garments with an elastic waist to replace the leather used by boxers.  Hence, the name of this garment.

Boxers are longer than normal and don’t have a bag to house the genitals.  This abnormality can sometimes cause irritation because of friction and discomfort when performing daily movements.  Additionally, boxers are a style of underwear that doesn’t go very well with jeans or tight pants.

BOXER-BRIEFS

If you still don’t know what boxer-briefs are, they are simply the adjusted version of the boxer.  Boxer-briefs appeared in the market around the nineties.  Boxer-briefs cover the middle of the thigh, helping to mark the obliques, and offer safety and comfort.

The creation of this garment is attributed to Calvin Klein.

Being one of the most popular styles, boxer-briefs are fantastic for daily use because they protect against rubbing due to strong and repetitive movements when walking or exercising.   Moreover, if you consider yourself a vanguard man, don’t wait any longer and add a pair of boxer-briefs to your closet, so you can always look sexy.

Regardless of age or personality, we know that boxer-briefs have become the favorite garment among American, British, and Latin American men.   This is due to the perfect fit that boxer-briefs offer, which enhances the male attributes. They are designed with a “bag” to position the testicles forward and, thus, give more space to the penis, revealing a better shape of the package.
